Steel Put Clamp Down on Bucs
January 13, 2006
The Eastern Division leading Des Moines Buccaneers could not find the net in 2-0 loss to the Chicago Steel at 95KGGO Arena. The two goals from the Steel came with under a minute left in each of the first two periods. The Bucs were able to outshoot the Steel 43-23, but were unable to put the puck in the net. Many scoring chances were turned away by Steel goaltender Eric Pfigler. As the first period was winding down under a minute,
Chicago
was able to slip a shot past Bucs' goalie Troy Davenport, with just 19 seconds left in the period. It was deja vu in the second period when Nathan Perkovich was able to score the Steel's second goal with only 53 seconds left in the second period. That proved to be the difference in the game as the Bucs were unable to rally back.
The Buccaneers will be taking on Western Division leader,
Sioux Falls
tomorrow at 95KGGO Arena. The puck will drop at 7:30pm. It is "Jimmy Buffett Night." There will be half priced cheeseburgers and margaritas all night long. Also, one lucky fan will win two airline tickets to
Florida
presented by Allegiant Air.
