Collins named Player of Year in Hockey East
March 21,2006

Boston College senior forward Chris Collins (Des Moines, 2001-02) emerged from the relative obscurity of his first three seasons to win the Hockey East scoring race by six points and now tacks on RBK/CCM Player of the Year honors. Collins totaled 18 goals and 21 assists over 27 league games, at one point having a hand in 21 of his team's 34 goals during a nine-game point streak.

Other individual award winners in Hockey East that played in the USHL include UMass-Lowell senior forward Danny O'Brien (Cedar Rapids, 2000-02), who won the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award, and Boston University senior forward Brad Zancanaro (Sioux City, 2000-02), who was named the league's best defensive forward.

But the honors didn't end there for USHL graduates. Collins was also named to the All-Hockey East First Team, while Boston University sophomore forward Peter MacArthur (Waterloo, 2003-04) was named to the Second Team.

The Hockey East All-Rookie Team includes forward Rob Ricci (Cedar Rapids, 2004-05) and defenseman Brett Motherwell (Omaha, 2003-05).
