Ben Ryan Invited to US National Jr. Camp

Former Buccaneer forward Ben Ryan has been invited to participate in the 2007 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid N.Y., Aug. 3-11.  The 45 participating players are candidates for the 2008 U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2007 – Jan. 5, 2008, in Pardubice and Liberec, Czech Republic.

The camp will feature practices and eight international scrimmages with a split squad of the best American players under the age of 20 facing off against Sweden and Finland.

Ryan, a Brighton, Michigan native, completed his second season with the Buccaneers.  He finished third on the team in scoring with 64 points on 22 goals and 42 assists.  Throughout his career with Buccaneers, Ben has compiled 114 points (43G & 71A) including playoffs.

"It's a real honor for Ben to be recognized in this select group," said head coach and general manager Regg Simon.  "He's will be going in and competing against all the best players in his age group from our country.  We wish him the best."

Last year, former Buccaneers Trevor Lewis and Kyle Okposo participated in the 2006 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp and the World Junior Championship.  Okposo has also been invited to participate again this season.

The camp opens on Aug. 3, with the first games set for Aug. 7. All practice sessions are open to the public and tickets to the international games are available through the Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid.
