Bucs Acquire Two New Forwards
November 21, 2007

The Des Moines Buccaneers announced today that they have acquired forward Brett Bruneteau from the Indiana Ice in exchange for defenseman Ben Blood.

"This was a case where both teams had to trade a good player to get a good player," said Head Coach and General Manager Regg Simon.  "Both teams got what they were looking for and we wish Ben all the continued success in the world."

Bruneteau is in his third season in the USHL.  He played his first two seasons with the Omaha Lancers and played the first 14 games of this season with the Indiana Ice.  He has 67 career points on 20 goals and 47 assists.  Brett had one goal and seven assists for the Ice this season.  Brett is a fourth round draft pick of the Washington Capitals and he has also committed to the University of North Dakota (WCHA) for the 2008-09 season.

"Brett is a center, which we really need in our line-up," added Simon.  "He's a two-way player that will bring a veteran presence to our team and he'll be able contribute offensively as well."

The Buccaneers also recently acquired forward Rocco Carzo from the Philadelphia Little Flyers of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL).  Carzo was leading the AJHL with 42 points on 20 goals and 22 assists before Des Moines traded for him.

The Buccaneers will play three games in three days beginning Thanksgiving night.  They take on the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City tomorrow.  On Friday night, they travel to Kearney>, Nebraska to take on the Tri-City Storm.  The Bucs return to 95KGGO Arena on Saturday night to take on the Sioux Falls Stampede.  It will be Des Moines Register Family Fun Night - 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and 4 autographs for $44.  There will also be $1.00 hot dogs for ALL and a FREE public skate following the game.
