J.P. Parise - Head Coach & General Manager

Coach Parise was hired April 23, 2008 as the Head Coach and General Manager of the Des Moines Buccaneers.
The Ontario, Canada native has extensive coaching experience in the professional ranks. He served as an assistant coach with the Minnesota North Stars from 1980-83 and again from 1984-88. He was the head coach of the Salt Lake Golden Eagles, a minor league affiliate of the North Stars, during the 1983-84 season. Most recently, Parise has been the director of prospect evaluation at Shattuck St. Mary's Prep School in Faribault, Minn. Shattuck is recognized as one of the premiere prep school hockey programs in the world and has produced the likes of NHL star Sidney Crosby as well as former Buccaneer Kyle Okposo.
Parise spent parts of 14 seasons in the NHL as a player, most of them with the Minnesota North Stars. He also had stints with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders and Cleveland Barons. He appeared in 890 games, scoring 238 goals and 594 points. Parise was a member of Team Canada that played the Soviet Union in the famed "Summit Series" of 1972.
Scott McConnell - Associate Head Coach

Coach McConnell is beginning his first season with the Buccaneers as Associate Head Coach.
McConnell brings a great amount of knowledge of the USHL to the job. He spent two seasons playing in the league with Fargo-Moorhead and Cedar Rapids. He also spent the past three seasons with the Indiana Ice as Assistant Coach and Associate Head Coach. Past coaching jobs also include Assistant Head Coach for the Billings Bulls of the (NAHL) and a stint as Associate Head Coach of the Bay City Bombers (WSHL).
After his USHL playing career, Scott was a four year member of the University of Denver Hockey team and helped the team win the 2004 NCAA National Championship.
The Madison, WI native was born into a hockey rich family. His Grandfather "Badger" Bob Johnson coached 3 NCAA Championships teams with the Wisconsin Badgers in the 70's. He coached the 1976 U.S. Olympic team and was the Head Coach of the 1991 Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Championship team.
