Des Moines stole a win from the Chicago Steel on Friday night, 2-1. After a scoreless first period, Brett Skalski got the Bucs on the board first. Skalski scored on an uncontested rebound after a Colin Haas breakway; the goal was scored at the 8:33 mark of the second period. The Bucs’ lead was short-lived as Chicago’s Mark Goggin scored just moments later making it 1-1 after two periods. But it was the Bucs prevailing in the third as Mike Fink scored the only goal of the period, assisted by Ami Peled. The 2-1 win would be the Bucs’ 12th of the season.
Bucs’ goalie Michael Houser recorded his 5th win of the campaign, stopping 37 of 38 shots. Chicago’s Hudson Stremmel took the loss making 42 saves.
