The Des Moines Buccaneers recognize the importance of reading.  More than that, we recognize the fun of reading - it stimulates our imagination (while providing relaxation), and we’d like to help spread the fun of reading to kids around Central Iowa !

Our players will be making stops at elementary schools all over Central Iowa this season, taking time to read with students and share the fun and importance of reading.  Would you like the Buccaneers to visit your classroom?  Let us know!  Our program isn’t heavily structured…we want to fit within your curriculum.  Is your class studying a particular subject?  Provide a book for us and our player will read from it.  Would you like the Bucs to involve students by having them come up and read pages?  You tell us!

PS -- Please pass this along to any and all teacher that might be interested in having Buccaneers players visit their classroom.  Players are available for more than just reading too they’re available to speak in classes or assemblies regarding sportsmanship, teamwork, etc.
