DES MOINES, IA – The USHL named Alex Laferriere (2001) Forward of the Week for Week Two after a three-goal and one assist performance last weekend against Fargo.
“Going into the weekend all we cared about was getting the win at home,” Laferriere said. “It’s a great honor and I have a lot of good players around me to thank who helped make it happen.”
Laferriere joined Des Moines as a free agent during the 2018-2019 season, where he affiliated while completing his high school season at Kent School, prior to making the full-time roster for 2019-2020. The Harvard commit from Chatham, NJ had a hand in four of six goals the Bucs scored versus Fargo in last Saturday’s 6-1 win on Opening night at Buccaneer Arena. Laferriere is eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft this coming summer in Montreal. He was also recently named to the NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List earlier this week.
The Bucs head to Wisconsin this weekend, taking on Madison Friday, Oct. 11 and Green Bay Saturday, Oct. 12. Des Moines returns to Buccaneer Arena next on Oct. 17 with a game against the Lincoln Stars.
