Buccaneer BroFile- Scout Truman
We sat down with Buccaneers’ forward Scout Truman to learn more about his hockey beginnings, hometown, and his favorite DSM hangout spots! Truman is committed to play hockey in the NCAA at UMass-Lowell.
Who/what inspired you to start playing hockey?
ST: My brother inspired me to play hockey. When he got started with it, I didn’t want to try it out until I watched him play his first year, after that I thought it looked fun, so I gave it a try.
What do you miss most about your hometown, Lethbridge?
ST: I would have to say I miss hanging out with all my best friends, my family and my brother when not in Lethbridge.
What are you looking forward to most about playing for UMass Lowell?
ST: I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans at UMass-Lowell, and I am very excited to be able to experience Boston and see a new part of the states I haven’t seen before.
Let’s say you make the NHL and are an everyday player: ideally, what team would you play for and why?
ST: I would have to go with the New York Islanders as they have been my favorite team for a while, and I love their uniforms. Also, I think it would be pretty cool to experience and live in New York.
What are a few of your favorite spots in Des Moines to hang out or grab some food?
ST: A few of my favorite spots to eat would have to be PepperJax, Chipotle, and Applebee’s. My favorite spot to hang with the guys would have to be Buc arena and on our bus trips.
